Jammu: Police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Jammu district on Friday said they have arrested one more accused and recovered arms and ammunition during the investigation of a major narco-terror case.
Crackdown on Narco-Terror Networks Continues
According to a police statement, Jammu Police South Zone has made significant progress under its sustained crackdown against narco-terror networks as part of Operation Sanjeevani. The case, earlier busted by Police Station Gandhi Nagar, involves an inter-district, inter-state and cross-border narcotics and arms syndicate uncovered after a deep and professional investigation.
Case Origin and Earlier Recoveries
The statement said that on November 14, 2025, Police Station Gandhi Nagar registered FIR No. 249/2025 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act and Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) after apprehending two persons during routine patrolling. This led to the exposure of a well-organised narco-terror module.
“During the investigation, multiple accused were arrested, including drug peddlers, financial handlers and jail-based facilitators. Recoveries included over 4.95 kg of heroin-like substance, three pistols, live ammunition and a modified vehicle, revealing cross-border linkages,” the police said.
Another Accused Arrested, Arms Recovered
As part of the ongoing investigation, one more accused was apprehended by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted under the supervision of SP City South and SDPO City South. On January 3, the accused, Rohit Kumar alias Makhan, son of Bodh Raj and a resident of Raiyan Kotliyan, R.S. Pura, Jammu, was arrested.
Following his disclosure, the SIT conducted a search at his residence on January 7, leading to the recovery of one pistol (Px5 Storm Beretta, .30 bore), one magazine and three live rounds. The recovered arms and ammunition have been seized.
Further Investigation Underway
Police said the accused is currently in custody and is being interrogated to ascertain his precise role in the network, as well as backward and forward linkages and arms supply routes.
“Efforts are being intensified to identify and arrest remaining associates, trace financial and logistical channels, and establish complete cross-border and inter-state linkages. Jammu Police remains firmly committed to dismantling narco-terror ecosystems, neutralising criminal networks, and ensuring the safety and security of the youth and citizens of Jammu,” the statement added.
