National Herald case: Delhi court denies FIR copy to Sonia, Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: A Delhi court on Tuesday ruled that Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, along with others, are not entitled to receive a copy of the latest FIR registered by the Delhi Police in the National Herald case. Special Judge (PC Act) Vishal Gogne set aside an earlier Magistrate court order but said the accused could be informed about the FIR’s registration.

EOW challenge and fresh FIR
The order came after the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) challenged the Magistrate’s direction to supply the FIR copy. The fresh FIR, registered on October 3, names Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and six others over alleged criminal conspiracy and financial irregularities linked to Associated Journals Limited (AJL) and Young Indian.

Probe widens; ED case setback
The investigation has widened with the EOW issuing a notice to Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, seeking details of alleged donations to Young Indian. Meanwhile, in a major relief to the Gandhis, a Delhi court refused to take cognisance of the ED’s money laundering complaint, calling it not maintainable.
