National Lok Adalat In Moga On September 12: Cases To Be Settled Through Mutual Consent

Moga (Punjab): A National Lok Adalat was held in Moga district on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in accordance with the directives of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), New Delhi, and the Punjab State Legal Services Authority.

District and Sessions Judge of Moga and Chairperson of the District Legal Services Authority, Ms. Neelam Arora, said the Lok Adalat was organised not only in Moga but also in the Baghapurana and Nihal Singh Wala sub-divisions.

The objective was to resolve, through mutual consent, cases pending in courts as well as pre-litigation matters that were amenable to settlement.

Various Types Of Cases Taken Up

A wide range of cases could be taken up in the Lok Adalat, including civil matters, domestic disputes, motor vehicle accident compensation cases, property disputes, electricity theft cases, cheque bounce cases, traffic challans, recovery suits and labour-related matters.

Ms. Arora said the Lok Adalat provides relief to the general public by saving both time and money.

She further said the process helps eliminate animosity between the parties involved and promotes a sense of mutual brotherhood.

    Court Fee Refunded After Settlement

Ms. Arora explained that when a case is settled in the Lok Adalat, the entire court fee deposited for that case is refunded.

She said the decision of the Lok Adalat is treated on par with a decree of a civil court, and no appeal lies against the decision.

The District and Sessions Judge urged members of the public to take maximum advantage of the opportunity and resolve their eligible cases through the Lok Adalat.

The initiative aims to provide litigants with an opportunity to settle suitable disputes through mutual agreement while saving the time and expense involved in prolonged legal proceedings.
