Upon receiving the report, officials from East Coast Railway (ECoR), the Cuttack District Collector, fire services personnel, and local police rushed to the scene to carry out rescue and restoration efforts. While ECoR has yet to confirm casualties or the exact number of injuries, sources suggest that one passenger may have lost their life, and several others sustained injuries.

Ashok Kumar Mishra, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of ECoR, stated that, based on initial reports, no passengers were injured. As per standard protocol, Accident Relief Trains (ARTs) and Accident Relief Medical Vans (ARMVs) from the Khurda Road division were dispatched to the site promptly. Central and state emergency response agencies were also informed, and senior railway officials, including the General Manager of ECoR, arrived at the location.

Mishra emphasized that the priority was to ensure stranded passengers reached their respective destinations, with an emergency control room set up to assist them. Additionally, necessary manpower was deployed to restore normal railway operations as quickly as possible. A special train was arranged to transport affected passengers.

The cause of the derailment remains unknown and will be determined after a thorough investigation. Meanwhile, several trains—12822 Dhauli Express, 12875 Neelachal Express, and 22606 Purulia SF Express—were diverted following the incident.
