New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has reiterated the government’s commitment to eradicating drug trafficking, announcing that 29 traffickers have recently been convicted in 12 cases nationwide.

In a post on X, Shah emphasized, “The Modi government is relentless in punishing drug traffickers who lead our youth into the destructive path of addiction for monetary gain. Thanks to a comprehensive investigative approach, we have secured convictions for 29 traffickers.”

He reaffirmed the Centre’s resolve, stating, “We are committed to continuing our battle against the drug threat with thorough and determined investigations to achieve a drug-free Bharat.”

Both the Centre and state governments are ramping up their efforts to combat drug trafficking across the country. In a recent review of the situation in Manipur, Shah addressed the local drug issue, asserting that drug cartels would be entirely dismantled to create a drug-free environment in the state.

Additionally, Shah chaired a high-level meeting in Delhi, where he instructed officials, including Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Minister Ashish Sood, to intensify the crackdown on narcotics in the national capital.

States are also enhancing their anti-drug measures. In Punjab, an extensive operation against traffickers has resulted in the arrest of 290 individuals, with over 750 locations searched and 232 FIRs filed. Similarly, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu has initiated a six-month special mission to dismantle drug networks, directing police to take strict action against peddlers and establishing a Special Task Force for intensified enforcement.

With these combined efforts, both the Centre and state governments are actively working to eliminate the drug problem in the country.
