Reports from the Civil Defence Force indicated that around 30 trees were uprooted, and 48 branches fell, creating serious safety hazards. Emergency response teams are actively engaged in clearing the debris to restore normalcy, but with the monsoon season just starting, residents are urged to stay alert.

According to the Bengaluru Meteorological Department’s weather report for March 23, light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected in various districts, including Dakshina Kannada, Bidar, Gulbarga, and Bengaluru Urban, among others. Gusty winds of 40-50 km/h may occur in some areas of interior Karnataka, while dry weather will prevail elsewhere in the state.

For March 24, the forecast includes light to moderate rain and thunderstorms in isolated locations within Kodagu, with light rain also possible in Bidar, Kalaburgi, Vijayapura, and other districts. Gusty winds of 30-40 km/h are anticipated in parts of interior Karnataka, with dry conditions continuing across other areas.

The weather prediction for March 25 suggests light to moderate rain in isolated places of Kodagu, with scattered light rain across Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, and others. Dry weather is expected for the remainder of the state.

On March 26, light to moderate rain will likely occur in Kodagu, with light rain expected in Dakshina Kannada, Hassan, and Chikkamagaluru, while dry conditions will dominate other regions.

On March 27, light rain is predicted for isolated areas in Kodagu, Mysuru, and Chikkamagaluru.

Earlier in the day, heavy rains forced the diversion of at least 10 flights headed to Bengaluru, as reported by airport officials. IndiGo noted that adverse weather conditions continued to disrupt flights.

Despite the challenges, many residents of Bengaluru welcomed the heavy rains and thunderstorms on Saturday, which brought a much-needed break from the oppressive heat following a prolonged dry spell.
