New Delhi, May 12: 43 hours after the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, 32 airports in 9 states have been opened on Monday. Airlines have started booking for passengers. 32 airports were closed from 9 to 15 May.
India carried out an air strike on Pakistan on May 7 to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. Pakistan also retaliated. The conflict between the two countries continued till May 10. At 5 pm on May 10, India and Pakistan announced a ceasefire.
After the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, the situation in Punjab has been normal for the last 2 days. Airports which were closed for 5 days have been opened. Apart from Chandigarh, Amritsar, Adampur (Jalandhar) and Sahnewal (Ludhiana) airports have been opened in Punjab.
Gaggal Airport in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh has also been opened from 10:30 am. Earlier, it was closed till 15 May after the ‘Operation Sindoor’ air strike on the night of 6-7 May.
A bomb was found late Sunday night in Muthianwali village near the Pakistan border in Fazilka. As soon as the information was received, a team of army officers reached the spot. They say that it looks old because it is rusted.
Schools and colleges have opened in 18 districts of Punjab from today. Schools are closed only in Amritsar, Ferozepur, Tarn Taran, Pathankot and Barnala which are adjacent to the Pakistan border.
Police have registered a case against unknown people for bursting firecrackers at night in Jalandhar. Police say that fireworks were burst to create an atmosphere of fear amid tension between India and Pakistan.
