430 flights cancelled, 27 airports to remain shut till May 10

New Delhi: Following India’s successful Operation Sindoor, domestic airlines canceled approximately 430 flights on Thursday, accounting for nearly 3% of total scheduled flights, as 27 airports stay shut until May 10. New Delhi: Following India’s successful Operation Sindoor, domestic airlines canceled approximately 430 flights on Thursday, accounting for nearly 3% of total scheduled flights, as 27 airports stay shut until May 10.

Flight tracking platform Flightradar24 reported that airspace over Pakistan and the western corridor of India, between Jammu and Kashmir and Gujarat, was largely free of civilian flights, as airlines avoided the sensitive zone.

The affected airports include Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Chandigarh, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Bathinda, Halwara, Pathankot, Bhuntar, Shimla, Gaggal, Dharamsala, Kishangarh, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Mundra, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Porbandar, Kandla, Keshod, Bhuj, Gwalior, and Hindon.

On Wednesday, over 300 flights were canceled, and operations at 21 airports across northern and western India were suspended.

Air India announced on X that its contact centers are experiencing high call volumes but assured support. It offered full refunds and one-time waivers on rescheduling fees for impacted tickets booked till May 10, 2025. The airline also expressed gratitude for the service of military and defense personnel, providing special offers for defense personnel on flights booked until May 31, 2025.

IndiGo informed passengers that flights to and from Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, and Dharamsala are affected due to airspace restrictions. The airline extended a full waiver of change and cancellation fees for travel to/from Srinagar until May 22, 2025, for bookings made on or before April 22, 2025.

SpiceJet mentioned that flights to and from Dharamsala, Leh, Jammu, Srinagar, and Amritsar have been suspended until further notice. Akasa Air also issued a travel advisory, while other airlines like Air India Express are advising customers to check routes amid the ongoing situation.
