5 soldiers killed during tank exercise in Ladakh; Defence Minister Rajnath Singh says ‘Nation will never forget exemplary services ‘

Reacting on the tragic incident in Ladakh in which 5 army soldiers lost their lives, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh consoled the loss of lives. In a Post on X, Minister said that the nation will never forget the exemplary services of our gallant soldiers.

He wrote on X, “Deeply saddened at the loss of lives of five of our brave Indian Army soldiers in an unfortunate accident while getting the tank across a river in Ladakh. We will never forget exemplary service of our gallant soldiers to the nation. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. The nation stands firm with them during this hour of grief.”

Official sources told IANS from Leh town of Ladakh region that an exercise of tank warfare was going on in the Daulat Beg Ode area near the line of actual control (LAC) on Friday.

A stream which was being crossed by the tanks during this exercise suddenly got flooded due to cloudburst in the higher reaches. “A tank was caught in the flashflood wherein five soldiers got killed,” sources said. The sources ruled out any sabotage in this accident. Those killed in this mishap include a Junior Commissioned Officer.

The accident happened around 3 am. All five bodies have been recovered. PRO PS Sindhu said that they are investigating the facts.
