Agra: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on Sunday that 620 million devotees have attended the Maha Kumbh Mela taking place in Prayagraj. While addressing attendees at the Unicorn Companies Conclave in Agra, he referred to the event as the “Unicorn Maha Kumbh of the startup world,” highlighting the significant interest it has generated.
CM Yogi noted that such a large gathering of people within a limited timeframe is a “rare” occurrence. “So far, 62 crore devotees have visited the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh… This type of mass assembly is one of the unique events of this century. This ancient Indian tradition has led to organizing these gatherings at four major locations in India,” he stated.
In preparation for the upcoming Maha Shivratri festival, where a significant influx of devotees is anticipated, authorities at the Maha Kumbh Mela have implemented extensive crowd control measures at Ayodhya Dham Railway Station. Deputy Superintendent of Police Yashwant Singh explained that devotees will only be allowed onto the platform as their trains arrive.
“We have heightened security ahead of the Maha Kumbh snan on Mahashivratri. More than 350 personnel have been deployed, and barricades have been set up around the area. A holding area has been established, and we are making regular announcements regarding train schedules to keep everyone informed. Entry to the platform will be granted only when trains arrive to prevent overcrowding,” DSP Singh emphasized. The final major bathing event of Maha Shivratri is scheduled for February 26 during the ongoing Mahakumbh.
