Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir): Following a brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam, National Conference President Farooq Abdullah strongly condemned the violence, called for unity in the fight against terrorism, and extended heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families.

Speaking to ANI, Abdullah expressed his distress, saying “the pot has overflowed” and emphasized that it’s time to eliminate terrorism permanently. He reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir has never supported Pakistan and never will.

He mourned those who lost loved ones, including a bride married just six days ago and a child who saw his father soaked in blood, sharing that the entire community grieved and didn’t eat in solidarity. Abdullah condemned the terrorists, asserting they are inhuman and falsely claim to be Muslims, emphasizing the need to stand with the families affected by terror.

Farooq vowed that these sacrifices would not be in vain and promised that terrorists will be punished. “The time has come to uproot terrorism,” he declared, emphasizing that although terrorism has persisted for 35 years, it will never succeed in defeating them.

He also criticized the Indus Waters Treaty, alleging it was made without Jammu and Kashmir’s consent and that the region suffers greatly from it. He appealed to the Indian government to release some water for Kashmir’s people, warning that India can halt water supplies but will not resort to cruelty like the terrorists.

Abdullah highlighted that he found strength and courage after meeting tourists in Pahalgam, who expressed their support. He challenged Pakistan’s hostility, urging the nation to respond with resolve and reminding the public that Kashmir is a part of India, guarding its identity and spiritual heritage, including Amarnath.

He rejected any support for Pakistan, recalling the Kashmiri Pandits’ plight and criticizing some leaders, like Mehbooba Mufti, for allegedly sympathizing with terrorists. Abdullah emphasized, “Kashmir is the crown of India. We have never supported terrorism, nor will we ever. Amarnath Ji is here, and he will protect us.”

Further, he dismissed Congress leader Charanjeet Singh Channi’s recent remarks, calling it inappropriate to discuss such matters during a time of crisis. He stressed unity and urged everyone to focus on ending terror before engaging in political disputes.

Lastly, on the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, Abdullah reassured pilgrims that Lord Shiva will protect them, encouraging everyone to participate without fear and seek blessings from Bhole Baba.
