New Delhi: The hearing in the matter of irregularities in the NEET UG 2024 examination is in the Supreme Court already and now another exam conducted by the NTA is under question. The cancellation of UGC NET 2024 has highlighted serious concerns about the integrity and credibility of NTA and the examinations conducted by it.
After receiving inputs from National Cyber Crime Threat Analytics of India about the integrity of the examination being compromised, The central government decided to cancel the UGC-NET exam on Wednesday, June 19. This exam was held a day earlier on Tuesday, June 18. It was conducted in two shifts in OMR i.e. pen and paper mode.
After this, the Ministry of Education ordered the National Testing Agency (NTA) to cancel it to ensure transparency of the examination process. Now the exam will be conducted afresh. Its information will be shared separately. The Center has handed over the matter to the CBI for investigation.

UGC NET exam is held for PhD admissions, Junior Research Fellowship i.e. JRF and Assistant Professor posts in universities across the country.
Congress launches attack on Modi government
On cancellation of UCG-NET exam, Congress has launched fresh attacks on the Modi Government. Party in a post on X said, “Modi government is playing with the future of youth. Yesterday UGC-NET exam was conducted in various cities of the country. Today the exam was cancelled on suspicion of a paper leak. First NEET paper was leaked and now UGC-NET, Modi government has become a ‘paper leak government’.”
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said “BJP government’s leak system and laxity is fatal for the youth. After the news of scam in NEET exam, now NET exam held on 18th June was also cancelled due to suspicion of irregularities. Will accountability be fixed now? Will the Education Minister take responsibility for this laxity?”
Aam Aadmi Party wrote on X- Not a single exam is being conducted without rigging and paper leak in BJP’s incompetent government. This government is causing great harm to the future of the country. Crores of students of the country are sinking in the darkness of despair every day.
