New Delhi: Air India has canceled several domestic and international flights on Friday due to increased aircraft inspections, adverse weather conditions, and restrictions in the airspace. The affected flights include routes connecting Dubai, Chennai, Delhi, Melbourne, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.
According to an official statement from Air India, the cancellations include international flights such as AI906 from Dubai to Chennai, AI308 from Delhi to Melbourne, AI309 from Melbourne to Delhi, and AI2204 from Dubai to Hyderabad. Some domestic flights affected are AI874 from Pune to Delhi, AI456 from Ahmedabad to Delhi, AI2872 from Hyderabad to Mumbai, and AI571 from Chennai to Mumbai, all canceled due to enhanced maintenance and operational issues.
The airline has offered passengers full refunds or free rescheduling options and is assisting travelers with alternative arrangements. They expressed regret for any inconvenience caused, stating that their staff on the ground is working to arrange alternative flights and that passengers can get updates via their website or customer care.
Passengers are advised to regularly check the status of their flights on the airline’s website or by contacting their customer service numbers, as ongoing aircraft checks, airspace restrictions, and bad weather may cause further disruptions.
Earlier, on June 18, Air India announced it would reduce the frequency of some international routes and temporarily suspend operations on three routes from June 21 to July 15, 2025. This reduction is part of the airline’s efforts to conduct enhanced pre-flight safety checks and accommodate longer flying times due to airspace closures in the Middle East, aiming to restore schedule stability and reduce last-minute inconveniences for passengers.
