Amritsar, April 26, 2025: After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, a high alert has been issued on the Pakistan border adjoining Punjab. The India-Pakistan border in the state is in Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur and Fazilka. The Border Security Force (BSF) has activated its Quick Reaction Teams (QRT) at all places.

Vigilance has been increased here. Meanwhile, the process of Pakistani citizens returning to the country via the Attari border of Amritsar continues. The government has given time till April 27. Those with medical visas have been asked to leave the country by April 29.

Here, Amritsar is completely closed in protest against the Pahalgam terrorist attack. The city’s markets have been closed after a joint decision by 16 market associations. These include Shastri Market, Gaggu Mandi, Sarafa Bazaar, Katra Jaimal Singh, Katra Ahluwalia, Pratap Bazaar, Goenka Market, Purani Mandi, and Focal Point.

Markets have been closed since morning, as protests against Pakistan

On Friday evening itself, all the organizations had instructed their members to keep the shops completely closed on Saturday. Due to this, all the markets of Amritsar are completely closed since this morning. There is silence in the markets

The traders gathered and raised strong slogans against Pakistan and the Pakistani government and are expressing their anger by burning the effigy of Pakistan. The protesters demanded the central government to take strict action against the terrorists and their supporters.
