New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed his joy over the establishment of India’s 58th Tiger Reserve, which is also the ninth in Madhya Pradesh. This milestone reaffirms the central government’s dedication to wildlife conservation and environmental protection.
In a post on X, PM Modi shared, “Amazing news for wildlife lovers! India is blessed with wildlife diversity and a culture that celebrates wildlife. We will always be at the forefront of protecting animals and contributing to a sustainable planet.”
He also shared a message from Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, who praised the creation of the new reserve. Yadav stated, “58th roar and counting! With a historic focus on restoring ecological diversity by PM Modi, India continues to make great strides in environmental protection and wildlife conservation.”
Yadav also announced that Madhya Pradesh’s Madhav Tiger Reserve is the latest addition, making it the state’s ninth Tiger Reserve. He congratulated the tireless efforts of forest officials, emphasizing their selfless commitment to wildlife conservation.
Located in Shivpuri district in the Gwalior-Chambal region, the new Madhav Tiger Reserve spans 1,751 square kilometers, including a core area of 375 square kilometers and a buffer zone of 1,276 square kilometers.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav highlighted the state’s ongoing dedication to wildlife protection, noting, “Madhya Pradesh continues to hold the title of ‘Tiger State’ with the highest tiger population. The addition of Madhav National Park brings the state’s Tiger Reserve count to nine.”
The Madhav Tiger Reserve follows the recent designation of the Ratapani Wildlife Sanctuary as the state’s eighth Tiger Reserve. Other reserves in Madhya Pradesh include Kanha, Satpura, Bandhavgarh, Pench, Sanjay Dubri, Panna, Veerangana Durgavati, Ratapani, and Madhav National Park.
