New Delhi: As Maghi Purnima Snan approaches on February 12, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the Railways has made extensive arrangements at eight railway stations for the Prayagraj Mahakumbh. He conducted an inspection of the facilities at Prayagraj Railway Station on Monday.
Vaishnaw stated, “The Railways has ensured all necessary arrangements at eight railway stations for the Prayagraj Mahakumbh. We are coordinating closely with the state administration. Yesterday, 330 trains departed from Prayagraj Junction, and today, the train operations are running smoothly. We will not entertain any rumors; everything is proceeding systematically.”
Dilip Kumar, Executive Director of the Railway Board’s Information & Publicity Department, added, “We have deployed over 13,000 railway personnel across various railway stations in the Sangam Kshetra. Special trains are being operated as needed. On Sunday, 1.25 million devotees traveled in 330 trains, and today more than 140 trains have already been dispatched. We have installed 1,200 CCTV cameras, with monitoring conducted at five levels. Control rooms at all stations are overseeing the CCTV feeds, which include cameras equipped with face-recognition technology and Artificial Intelligence.”
On Monday, President Droupadi Murmu took a holy dip at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj as part of the ongoing Mahakumbh 2025. After her dip, she offered prayers at the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. She was welcomed by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath upon her arrival.
The Rashtrapati Bhavan reported, “Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath greeted President Droupadi Murmu upon her arrival in Prayagraj.” Following her arrival, President Murmu also fed migratory birds at Triveni Sangam.
According to the Uttar Pradesh government, approximately 8.429 million devotees took a holy dip at the Maha Kumbh 2025 on Sunday, bringing the total to over 420 million devotees since the event began. The Maha Kumbh 2025, which started on Paush Purnima (January 13, 2025), is recognized as the world’s largest spiritual and cultural gathering, drawing devotees from around the globe. The event will continue until Mahashivratri on February 26 and is expected to break attendance records.
