New Delhi: Counting of votes for by-elections is going on in 13 assembly seats of 7 states including Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar. Voting was held on these seats on July 10. Out of these, 10 seats were vacant due to resignation of MLAs and three seats were vacant due to death of MLAs.
According to initial trends, AAP candidate Mohinder Bhagat has won by 37,325 votes from Jalandhar West seat in Punjab. BJP was second and Congress was third.
TMC is leading in all four seats of West Bengal. Last time BJP had won three seats which now have been claimed by TMC.
Independent Shankar Singh is leading in Rupauli, Bihar. Bima Bharti, who went from JDU to RJD, is behind.
Out of three seats in Himachal Pradesh, Congress and BJP won one seat each. Also, Congress is ahead in one. Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s wife Kamlesh Thakur has won the election from Dehra seat. BJP candidate from Hamirpur Ashish Sharma has won the seat.
Congress is leading in both the seats of Uttarakhand. In Amarwara, MP, Congress’s Dheeran Shah is ahead of BJP’s Kamlesh Shah by 4400 votes.
This is the first electoral contest between NDA and India Block after the Lok Sabha elections. In the last elections, BJP had won 3 out of these 13 seats. Out of the remaining 10, Congress had won 2 and other parties had won 8 seats.
