On Friday, Mumbai police reported the recovery of a weapon from the residence of an accused in the murder case of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui. The weapon was found at the home of Ram Fulchand Kanoujia, who had been renting a place in Raigad, Maharashtra. So far, police have retrieved four out of the five weapons mentioned in the initial investigation, with efforts ongoing to locate a missing pistol, specifically an Australian-made Beretta.
In their search of the shooters’ mobile phones, police discovered images of pistols, which led to further interrogations and the pursuit of the fourth weapon. Earlier that day, police arrested another suspect, Sujeet Kumar, in Ludhiana, raising the total number of arrests to 15. Sujeet was taken into custody based on confidential information in the Sundar Nagar area of Ludhiana and was subsequently brought to Jamalpur police station before being transferred to Mumbai. Notably, he resides in Mumbai but was visiting his in-laws at the time.
Baba Siddiqui, a former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader, was shot and killed by three gunmen on October 12 near the office of his son, MLA Zeeshan Siddique, in Nirmal Nagar, Mumbai. The responsibility for the murder has been claimed by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang.
