Srinagar: The Bharat Yatra, organized by the Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) and its National Convenor Abu Bakr Naqvi, arrived in Srinagar today. Romesh Khajuria, a member of the MRM’s National Working Committee, also took part in the march. The event, designed to promote peace and national unity, concluded at Ghanta Ghar (Click Tower) in Lal Chowk.

The Yatra was flagged off by Indresh Kumar, Patron of the Muslim Rashtriya Manch, from Motiya Khan in New Delhi. Its main aim is to foster harmony and a sense of unity across India.

During the event, Naqvi addressed the recent attack in Pahalgam, calling it a shocking incident and possibly the first of its kind, with terrorism targeting individuals in the name of religion. He emphasized that the entire nation was deeply disturbed by the attack. Naqvi expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for responding decisively to the incident and praised the Indian Army for their exemplary efforts and bravery in sending a strong message to Pakistan.

India’s military response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam was Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7. The operation targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistani-controlled Kashmir, resulting in the elimination of over 100 terrorists affiliated with groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.

Following the response, Pakistan carried out cross-border shelling and attempted drone attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. India responded by attacking 11 military targets, including radar stations and airbases, in Pakistan.

On May 10, both countries agreed to a ceasefire, marking a pause in hostilities and a step toward de-escalation amid rising tensions.
