Patna: On December 26 in Patna, Bihar, police faced backlash after using “lathi-charge” against aspirants of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) who were protesting to demand the cancellation of the recent examination. Authorities stated they employed “mild force” and denied any injuries among the protesters.
DSP Anu Kumari accused coaching teachers of instigating the protests and highlighted several social media accounts that were allegedly misleading students. Since December 18, aspirants have been protesting at the Dharna Sthal in Gardanibagh, culminating in a large gathering outside the BPSC office on December 25, which the police deemed unlawful and disruptive.
Kumari noted that an FIR has been filed against those inciting the protests and involved in vandalism, including an incident at Gardanibagh Hospital. Legal actions are being pursued against those responsible for the unrest. BPSC Chairman Parmar Ravi Manubhai previously confirmed that the 70th Integrated Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024 would not be canceled. Meanwhile, popular educator Faisal Khan, known as Khan Sir, visited the protesting students who were on a hunger strike.
