Patna: In Bihar’s Gopalganj district, a woman allegedly murdered her husband in his sleep with the help of her lover, after which both were arrested. The incident took place in Batardeh Tola Kathari Bari village, within Barauli police station jurisdiction, on Saturday night.

The victim, Dhruv Prasad, had returned home from Punjab just two days prior. Following an investigation, police detained Dhruv’s wife, Kiran Devi, along with her brother-in-law, Vikesh Kumar, both of whom have confessed to their involvement during interrogation.

According to Dhruv’s father, Ramu Prasad, Dhruv came back on May 21, and on the night of May 24, he was attacked while sleeping. The accused slit his throat with a sword. The father also revealed that Kiran Devi had been involved in an extramarital relationship with Vikesh Kumar for nearly two years, despite family warnings and efforts to stop it.

The police believe the motive for the murder was a dispute that arose after Dhruv confronted his wife about her affair. SDPO Rajesh Kumar confirmed that the accused were arrested within six hours of filing the FIR, based on technical evidence and family statements. The weapon used in the crime has been recovered, and an FSL team is examining forensic evidence.

Further charges may be added once medical and forensic reports are complete. The FIR has been registered under relevant sections for murder and conspiracy against Kiran Devi and Vikesh Kumar, and the investigation remains ongoing.
