BJP launches nationwide campaign to spread awareness about benefits of Waqf (Amendment) Act

As protests continue over the recently amended Waqf Act, the BJP has launched a nationwide outreach campaign, "Waqf Sudhar Janjagaran Abhiyan", to highlight the law's benefits, especially for Muslims, women, and Pasmanda communities.

New Delhi, April 20: As protests continue over the recently amended Waqf Act, the BJP has launched a nationwide outreach campaign, “Waqf Sudhar Janjagaran Abhiyan”, to highlight the law’s benefits, especially for Muslims, women, and Pasmanda communities. The campaign will run until May 5.

The BJP argues the law ensures transparency and social justice, but the Act has been challenged in the Supreme Court. The Court is considering staying key provisions, including “waqf by user’ and inclusion of non-Muslims on waqf boards. The Centre has assured that no appointments or changes will be made until the next hearing.

Meanwhile, in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, violence linked to Waqf protests left three dead and over 270 arrested. The NCW and NHRC teams visited the area, promoting a political clash between the BJP and TMC. The TMC called the visits “politically motivated,” while the BJP accused the ruling party of shielding rioters for vote-bank politics.
