BJP-led NDA meeting to elect Narendra Modi as leader today; TDP MPs to remain present

The swearing-in ceremony may take place on Sunday.

New Delhi: The newly elected MPs of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance will meet on Friday, i.e. today to elect Narendra Modi as their leader. Following this meeting, a way will be paved for Narendra Modi to become Prime Minister for the third time in a row.

The swearing-in ceremony may take place on Sunday. Earlier it was reported that the swearing-in ceremony would be on 8th June but later the date got sifted to 9th June yet official confirmation about the same is awaited.

Some members of the alliance said that after Modi is elected the leader of the NDA parliamentary party, senior members of the alliance like TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu and Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar will meet President Draupadi Murmu and submit the list of MPs supporting him.
