Giridih: A powerful explosion struck a house in Sheetalpur, Giridih district of Jharkhand, early Monday morning, resulting in one woman’s death and six others suffering serious injuries.
The blast occurred around 2:00 a.m. at the home of Umesh Das. The force of the explosion was such that it severely damaged the house, leading to the collapse of parts of its walls and roof. The loud noise woke nearby residents, who quickly alerted the police.
Emergency responders and locals worked to rescue those trapped in the rubble. The injured, including Umesh Das, his wife Sabita Devi, their sons Sandeep and Sunny, daughter Lakshmi, and Umesh’s father-in-law, were initially taken to Giridih Sadar Hospital for treatment. Due to the severity of their injuries, all six were later transferred to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi for more advanced care.
Tragically, Bedanti Devi lost her life on the way to the hospital.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the explosion. Locals have speculated about various possibilities, with some suggesting it could be linked to foul play involving explosives placed due to personal conflict, while others believe it might have resulted from a gas cylinder explosion.
Forensic experts and district police have been dispatched to investigate the incident, collecting samples for further analysis. Giridih Superintendent of Police Dr. Bimal has promised thorough inquiries into all possible leads. Shyam Kishore Mahato, in charge of Giridih Mufassil Police Station, indicated that while the cause is still unknown, a detailed investigation is ongoing.
The event has attracted the attention of local leaders and representatives, who visited the scene to assess the situation and support the affected family.
