Mumbai: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shaina NC criticized the Congress party and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), declaring that their “boat has sunk” and expressing confidence that the Mahayuti alliance would regain power in the state. She stated, “This is the same Congress that frequently comments on the Shiv Sena and Sanjay Raut, exchanging candidates and altering names. Their boat has sunk. The Mahayuti government will be back in power on November 23.”
Shaina NC also responded to Aaditya Thackeray of Shiv Sena (UBT), who criticized Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw over a recent stampede incident at Bandra Terminus that left at least eight people injured. She remarked, “The most incapable leader is criticizing the most capable minister. Ashwini Vaishnaw’s performance as Railway Minister has been commendable. This unfortunate incident does not mean the Railway Ministry is not taking necessary actions.”
Earlier, Shaina NC expressed her support for the candidacy of Shiv Sena leader Milind Deora for the Worli constituency in the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections, stating she was “not at all upset” about the decision made by her party and the alliance. Despite previous reports suggesting that she was also a contender for the seat, Deora’s candidacy was officially announced by Shiv Sena.
The Worli constituency is expected to host a high-profile contest between Deora and Aaditya Thackeray, with the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena also fielding their candidate, Sandeep Deshpande. Shaina NC emphasized that she is not upset about the candidate selection, reinforcing her commitment to the party’s priorities. “Our party believes in nation first, party next, and individual last. Our focus is on the development of Mumbai and uplifting Maharashtra,” she commented.
Both the ruling Mahayuti alliance, which includes the BJP, the Eknath Shinde faction of Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar-led NCP, and the opposition MVA comprising Shiv Sena (UBT), the Sharad Pawar faction of NCP, and Congress, are gearing up for the elections in the 288 Assembly seats in the state. The Maharashtra Assembly elections are set for November 20, with the counting of votes for all constituencies scheduled for November 23.
In the previous assembly elections of 2019, the BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena 56, and Congress 44. In 2014, the BJP secured 122 seats, Shiv Sena 63, and Congress 42.
