Patna: The Patna Police have apprehended a man for causing a disturbance during the 70th BPSC Combined Examination at the Bapu Examination Centre in Kumhrar, Patna, on December 13.

The individual, identified as Manish Kumar from Jagatpur in Supaul district, allegedly created chaos during the exam. Patna Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Atulesh Jha confirmed that missing question papers were recovered from Kumar, along with an Android phone.

“We reviewed CCTV footage from the Bapu Examination Centre and identified Manish Kumar as the suspect. The missing question papers were found in his possession,” Jha stated.

Following the disturbance, an FIR was filed at the Agam Kuan police station based on a complaint from the duty magistrate at the exam center. The police conducted an investigation and arrested Kumar using technical evidence.

Authorities suspect that Kumar and his accomplices conspired to leak the examination papers. He is currently being interrogated, and police are looking for other individuals involved in the incident.

On December 13, some candidates at the Bapu Examination Centre raised concerns about a possible paper leak and delays in receiving question papers, leading to a commotion. Consequently, the police filed a case against 50 to 60 unidentified youths.

Due to the unrest, the BPSC canceled the examination at the Bapu Examination Centre, which had nearly 12,000 candidates registered, but only 5,500 managed to submit their OMR sheets.

While the exam was held at 912 centers across Bihar, only the Bapu Examination Centre faced cancellation. This incident has led to widespread protests, with many candidates staging a sit-in at Gardanibagh, demanding the cancellation of the exam.

The protesting candidates are linking the chaos at the Bapu center to a potential question paper leak and suspect that prominent coaching centers may be involved. They are calling for a CBI inquiry into the situation.
