Breaking: CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury passes away at 72

New Delhi: CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury passed away today. Veteran leader was undergoing treatment for Pneumonia at AIIMS, New Delhi from a long time. The news of his death has been confirmed by the All India Insitute of Medical Sciences, where he was undergoing treatment from long time. He was suffering from respiratory infection.

New Delhi: CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury passed away today. Veteran leader was undergoing treatment for Pneumonia at AIIMS, New Delhi from a long time. The news of his death has been confirmed by the All India Insitute of Medical Sciences, where he was undergoing treatment from long time. He was suffering from respiratory infection and took his last breath at the age of 72.

The CPM leader was admitted to the emergency ward of AIIMS on August 19. Later Yechury was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as his severe condition persisted. as per the reports, he was suffering from a pneumonia-like infection. Yechury recently also underwent a cataract surgery.

Sitaram Yechury remained member of Politburo which is CPM’s top decision-making body, for over three decades.  Yechury was also a member of the Rajya Sabha from the period of 2005 to 2017.
