Kolkata: There has been a minor adjustment to the itinerary of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat’s upcoming visit to West Bengal next month.

Originally set to arrive in Kolkata on February 7, Bhagwat’s visit has been postponed to February 11. Additionally, the duration of his stay in the state has been reduced from ten days to just four.

According to the revised schedule, Bhagwat will land in Kolkata on February 11 and will proceed to Burdwan in the East Burdwan district the same day. There, he will conduct a series of meetings concentrating on the RSS’s activities in tribal areas across central Bengal.

After his sessions in Burdwan, he will return to Kolkata that night, where he will spend the next three days meeting with senior RSS officials to discuss the organization’s initiatives in various districts of southern West Bengal.

On February 13, Bhagwat is expected to meet with civil society representatives in the state.

This visit comes at a time of heightened tension between the RSS and the ruling Trinamool Congress, particularly after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticized Bhagwat for referring to January 22, the date of the Ram Mandir inauguration in Ayodhya, as the country’s “real independence day.” The Chief Minister condemned his remarks, labeling them as “anti-national” and calling for their retraction.
