Child Rescued After Kidnapping Near Jama Masjid by Delhi Police

A two-and-a-half-year-old girl, who was kidnapped on June 23 evening near Jama Masjid metro station, was safely rescued and reunited with her family. The Jama Masjid police, under the Central District, reported that the kidnapper, a 72-year-old woman named Hasina, has been arrested. The girl went missing while playing in a crowded area near Jama.

A two-and-a-half-year-old girl, who was kidnapped on June 23 evening near Jama Masjid metro station, was safely rescued and reunited with her family. The Jama Masjid police, under the Central District, reported that the kidnapper, a 72-year-old woman named Hasina, has been arrested.

The girl went missing while playing in a crowded area near Jama Masjid Metro Gate. Despite immediate efforts by her family and locals, she could not be located. Suspecting kidnapping, the parents contacted the police for assistance.

Investigation and Rescue
The Jama Masjid police initiated an investigation that included reviewing CCTV footage from the area to track the girl and her abductor. Footage showed the woman taking the girl inside the metro station from Jama Masjid Metro Gate No. 1. Further CCTV analysis revealed the woman boarded the metro with the girl and later disembarked at Uttam Nagar East station.

The police tracked her movements through CCTV footage in Uttam Nagar and located the woman at JJ Colony in Hastsal, Uttam Nagar. The girl was recovered safely from her possession, and the elderly woman was arrested.

Related Legal Development
In another case, the Delhi High Court on June 23 granted protection from arrest to Bhabani Chib, a CRPF jawan accused of kidnapping a man. The court ordered that he not be arrested till the next hearing, as he has agreed to cooperate with the investigation. Chib is scheduled to appear before the investigation officer on June 24.

Additionally, an FIR was filed at Saket police station based on the victim’s wife’s complaint. The Delhi police are directed to submit a status report two days before the next hearing on July 3, 2025.
