New Delhi: Amid the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the Government of India has announced a nationwide civil mock drill on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. According to the reports, the mock drill will be held across 244 country districts.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, this mock drill will observe civilians’ preparedness for emergencies, especially during these ongoing geopolitical tensions. This exercise will take place in several states, including Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. The list further includes the border-fenced regions of the country, such as Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Gujarat.
The officials have said that the focus of the drill will be on key activities such as:
– Testing Air Raid Warning Systems
– Rehearsing Blackouts
– Analyzing Emergency Systems in Urban and Rural Areas
Amid the ongoing preparations for mock drills nationwide, a civil defense official explained that the air raid sirens will be the first way to warn people during times of war or crisis. Each district must make sure that these systems are working.
