CM Arvind Kejriwal to tender resignation tomorrow, Key meeting with Manish Sisodia underway

New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal announced yesterday that he will step down from the post of CM in the coming two days and will not sit on the CM’s chair until the public gives him a certificate of honesty. Terming his move as ‘Agnipariksha’, he said that he will come to power only after the support of people.

On Monday, AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj held a press conference and said that the name of the CM has not been discussed yet. The legislative party will take a decision on this after Kejriwal’s resignation.

Meanwhile, Manish Sisodia will be meeting Kejriwal today at his residence. Both can discuss the name of the next CM of Delhi for the time period elections are not held. Earlier, Manish Sisodia reached at the residence of Arvind Kejriwal where meeting will take place.  Also, the party’s PAC (Political Affairs Committee) meeting will also be held today.

Kejriwal came out of jail on bail on September 13 in the case related to the Delhi liquor policy scam. In the party office, Kejriwal had said that only an ally of his party would become the CM. After the announcement of Kejriwal’s resignation, discussions have intensified on the names of his wife Sunita, Delhi government minister Atishi and Gopal Rai. It is expected that name of the CM will be announced after Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal tenders his resignation to LG.

Kejriwal was arrested by ED on 21st March in connection with the money laundering case in the liquor policy case. After 10 days of interrogation, he was sent to Tihar Jail on 1st April. On 10th May, he was released for 21 days to campaign in the Lok Sabha elections. This release was given after staying in jail for 51 days. On 2nd June, Kejriwal surrendered in Tihar Jail.

CBI arrested him on 26th June in connection with the corruption case in the liquor policy case. On 13th September, the Supreme Court granted him bail. In this way, he has spent 156 days in Tihar Jail, but he was released after 177 days.
