New Delhi: Delhi’s Karkardooma Court has refused permission for the police to conduct polygraph, voice stress analysis, and psychological tests on six accused in a 2020 murder case, including the parents of the deceased girl, as the court noted they did not give their consent. The girl’s body was found in a canal in Aligarh, and despite two DNA tests, the results did not match the accused parents, Ravinder Chaudhary and Suman, leading to their bail in 2023.

The court, led by Additional Sessions Judge Alok Shukla, rejected the police’s request for these tests after the accused refused and legal counsel argued that the investigation was completed and the application was filed late. The court emphasized that since the accused did not consent, the tests cannot be enforced.

Police argued that these tests were crucial for ongoing investigation and were to be conducted at FSL/Rohini Delhi, but the defense contended that the demand was unreasonable at this stage, as the investigation had already concluded and the case was now at the evidence stage.

The case originally stemmed from a complaint by the accused husband of the deceased, Sheetal, in February 2020. The investigation revealed that Sheetal’s body was dumped in Aligarh, and subsequently sections related to murder were added to the FIR. The police submitted a charge sheet in May 2020, with supplementary charges filed later.
