Covid Cases in India: Active cases rises over 1100, death toll reaches 12

There are 208 cases in Maharashtra, 104 in Delhi, 100 in Karnataka and 83 in Gujarat.

The number of active cases of corona virus across the country has reached 1107. The highest number of 430 cases have been reported from Kerala. There are 208 cases in Maharashtra, 104 in Delhi, 100 in Karnataka and 83 in Gujarat.

A 78-year-old coronavirus-positive elderly man died during treatment in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. This is the first death from the new variant of COVID-19 in the state. Apart from this, a total of 11 patients have died in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh. The total number of dead has reached 12.

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Director Dr. Rajiv Bahl stated that four variants have been identified in the country so far. These include LF.7, XFG, JN.1 and NB.1.8.1 variants.

Two coronavirus patients died in Jaipur on Monday. One of them was found dead at the railway station. His coronavirus report has come back positive. The second death was of a 26-year-old man admitted in a private hospital. He was already suffering from TB.

Meanwhile, a coronavirus-positive woman died during treatment in Thane, Maharashtra. In Thane itself, a 21-year-old man undergoing treatment in a hospital died on 25 May (Sunday). He was undergoing treatment since 22 May.

Earlier on 17 May, an 84-year-old man died in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The health department had said that the elderly man died due to multi-organ failure. His COVID-19 report came positive on 24 May. Two people have died of COVID-19 in Kerala.
