Covid cases surge sparks concern; 21 deaths in 2 days due to Corona

New Delhi, June 1: Coronavirus cases are increasing rapidly in the country. The number of active cases has reached 3783. Kerala has the highest number of cases at 1400. Maharashtra has 485 active cases and Delhi has 436 active cases. More than 1000 new cases have been reported in the last 48 hours.

According to the health department, 28 people have died from corona since January. Out of these, 21 people have died in the last 2 days. On Saturday, a 63-year-old man died in Bengaluru. He had received both vaccines along with a booster dose. A 60-year-old man died in Delhi. Maharashtra and Kerala have lost the most number of people, 7 each.

The Karnataka government issued a public advisory on Saturday. In this, people were urged to wear masks in crowded places, maintain physical distance and pay special attention to hygiene. They were asked to get tested immediately if they have fever, cough, chest pain or difficulty in breathing.

First case of Covid found in Mizoram after 7 months On Friday, 2 people have been confirmed to be infected with Covid-19 in Mizoram. Health department officials said that Covid cases have been found 7 months after the last such case was reported in the state. The last case of Covid-19 in Mizoram was reported in October 2024, during which 73 people were infected with the virus in the state.

He said the patients are being treated at Zoram Medical College and Hospital (ZMCH) in Phalkon near Aizawl. The Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP) of the state health department has urged people not to panic.

The IDSP has advised people to follow Covid protocols, wash hands regularly, use hand sanitisers and avoid visiting crowded areas.

More than 9 thousand covid tests in Maharashtra

The Maharashtra government said that 68 new cases of Covid were reported on Saturday. While a total of 749 cases have been found in Mumbai since January 2025. 9592 Covid-19 tests have been conducted in the state since January.

Meanwhile, two cases of COVID-19 were reported in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. Both the patients are from Kerala and are studying at the Government Dental College in Srinagar.
