New Delhi: Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, will embark on a two-day visit to India starting Tuesday, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

This visit marks Sheikh Hamdan’s first official trip to India in his capacity as Crown Prince and will include several ministers, senior government officials, and a high-level business delegation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host a working lunch for the Crown Prince on Tuesday, and he is also scheduled to meet with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

Following his time in Delhi, the Crown Prince will travel to Mumbai, where he will participate in a business roundtable with key business leaders from both India and the UAE. This interaction aims to enhance economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries in both traditional and emerging sectors.

According to the MEA statement, “Dubai has historically played a crucial role in India’s commercial, cultural, and social exchanges with the UAE. A significant majority of India’s approximately 4.3 million diaspora in the UAE live and work in Dubai. The visit of His Highness the Crown Prince will further strengthen the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and reinforce our multifaceted relationship with Dubai.”

EAM Jaishankar had extended Prime Minister Modi’s invitation for the Crown Prince to visit India during his own visit to the UAE from January 27-29 earlier this year.

“Delighted to meet Crown Prince of Dubai and DPM and Minister of Defence of UAE HH Hamdan Mohammed. A warm conversation on our deep bonds of friendship and taking them forward for the good of our people,” Jaishankar posted on X following their meeting, which further solidified the strong and growing economic and social ties between India and Dubai.
