New Delhi: Just two days after being sworn in as Delhi’s Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in the national capital on Saturday. The two had previously encountered each other during the oath-taking ceremony at Ramlila Maidan on February 20, which was attended by PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and several other NDA leaders.

Earlier today, Gupta convened a meeting with officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) to discuss enhancing the city’s infrastructure and repairing damaged roads. A post from Delhi BJP on X stated, “Chief Minister @gupta_rekha held a meeting with PWD officials to address infrastructure improvements in Delhi, focusing on issues related to dug-up and damaged roads, as well as traffic concerns, and provided directions to the relevant officials.”

Additionally, PWD Minister Parvesh Verma inspected various department projects from Bhairon Marg to Sarai Kale Khan on Ring Road. During his visit, he engaged with constituents and officials to hear their concerns and seek solutions. Verma instructed officials to ensure that roads are built to last 10-15 years, despite the official five-year timeline. He also inquired about the 4-kilometer stretch of road under repair and how traffic congestion is managed during closures. Officials explained that work is conducted lane by lane, primarily at night.

Meanwhile, former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Atishi reached out to CM Rekha Gupta, expressing concern over the government’s failure to approve a scheme providing Rs 2,500 to women. In her letter, she noted that the first cabinet meeting of Gupta’s administration on February 20 did not pass the scheme, leaving many women in Delhi feeling misled by PM Modi’s promise. Atishi requested a meeting with the new CM to discuss the issue on February 23.
