Gupta was sworn in as Delhi’s ninth Chief Minister during a ceremony at Ramlila Maidan, where six other leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also took their oaths as ministers. According to a press release from the Directorate of Information and Publicity, Government of NCT of Delhi, her day will begin with her formal commencement of duties at the Secretariat and will include key engagements throughout the afternoon and evening.

President Droupadi Murmu officially appointed Rekha Gupta and her cabinet, as noted in a Home Affairs notification, which indicated her swearing-in date as the effective date of her appointment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Gupta via a post on X, praising her ascent from grassroots politics to becoming Chief Minister. He expressed confidence that she would diligently work for Delhi’s development.

The ministers sworn in alongside Gupta include Parvesh Sahib Singh (Deputy CM), Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh. The swearing-in ceremony was attended by notable BJP figures, including Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, as well as Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from other states.

In her remarks to the media, Gupta described her election as a “miracle” and a “new chapter” for women in politics, committing to hold corrupt individuals accountable and to ensure transparency. She stated, “It is a miracle, it is a new motivation and a new chapter. If I can be the CM, this shows that opportunities are available for all women. Anyone who has engaged in corruption will need to explain every rupee,” she emphasized.

Grateful to the BJP leadership, Gupta expressed her commitment to fulfilling the party’s promises and collaborating with all 48 BJP MLAs. “It is a huge responsibility, and I thank PM Modi and the BJP high command for their trust in me. I will carry out my duties with honesty. My top priority is to deliver on our party’s commitments, and my second is to ensure that all our 48 MLAs work cohesively as a team,” she remarked, noting she never anticipated becoming the Chief Minister of Delhi.
