New Delhi: Residents of Ghazipur protested on Monday, blocking the Akshardham-Ghaziabad road, demanding the arrest of the individuals responsible for the murder of a young man who was shot dead late Sunday night in the Ghazipur area of Delhi.

One of the protesters, Virender Singh, shared details with ANI, stating, “A Hindu man from Ghazipur village was shot last night by jihadists. He belonged to the Gujar community. This happened around 2 AM. The issue was that these individuals were dominating the area, collecting money, and running illegal businesses. The victim, Rohit, spoke out against their activities and said this kind of control would not be tolerated. As a result, he was shot twice and died at the scene. Rohit was from Ghazipur and had been living with his maternal uncle since his father was not around. He was the eldest of three brothers.”

The police have registered a case under the Arms Act and for murder. Vineet Kumar, Additional DCP-I for East District, said, “We received information about an injured man and went to the hospital where we confirmed he had been shot. In the preliminary investigation, two suspects have been detained, and multiple teams are working on the case.”

Another protester, Chaudhary Karam Singh Rawat, expressed frustration, saying, “This is an issue of Delhi Police and the administration. If they wanted, they could have arrested the murderer by now. We are suffering because of this. Rohingya Muslims, who have settled here with money, are involved. If the police wanted, they could have arrested them already. If we do not get justice, there will be violence and bloodshed. We will continue blocking the road until justice is served.”

The motive behind the murder remains unclear, and the police are working to identify the victim.
