New Delhi: The Delhi government has initiated a ‘Mobile Registration Campaign’ under the Ayushman Vaya Vandana Yojana, a key healthcare scheme for senior citizens aged 70 and above in the capital city.

This initiative, part of the larger Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), offers free treatment coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh per individual.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the campaign from the RK Puram Assembly area, in the presence of Delhi Cabinet Minister Sardar Manjinder Singh Sirsa and local MLA Anil Sharma.

Over the next 70 days, 70 mobile vans—one in each of Delhi’s 70 assembly constituencies—will be deployed to facilitate registration for senior citizens.

During the launch, Gupta emphasized, “In Delhi, for all senior citizens aged 70 and above, a special Vaya Vandana Yojana is being launched. To help them register easily, 70 vehicles will be stationed across all constituencies for 70 days, marking a dedicated period of government service.”

She added that these vans would be present throughout the city, including in and around Delhi, assisting elderly citizens in completing their registration and related formalities without hassle.

The scheme provides cashless health treatment, financed jointly by the Central and Delhi governments. Eligible seniors will receive Rs 5 lakh coverage under the national PMJAY scheme, with an additional Rs 5 lakh provided by the Delhi government, totaling Rs 10 lakh in benefits.

It is open to all Delhi residents aged 70 or above, regardless of socio-economic status, but beneficiaries must be native residents of Delhi and hold a valid Aadhaar card.

Currently, about 100 hospitals in Delhi are part of the scheme, enabling beneficiaries to access free treatment without financial concerns.

Through this mobile van initiative, the Delhi government aims to ensure that no senior citizen faces logistical or technological hurdles in availing this comprehensive healthcare scheme.
