Devotees and tourists from 100 countries are expected to attend the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh, scheduled from January 13 to February 26, 2025, according to Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. He stated that around 450 million people will visit the event, with 1.5 to 2 million foreigners among them.
Speaking to the media, Shekhawat emphasized the unifying nature of Diwali, highlighting India’s rich diversity in languages, cuisines, beliefs, and geography. He remarked that this year’s Diwali is particularly significant as it marks the first celebration following Lord Shri Ram’s establishment in his palace in Ayodhya. Shekhawat expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to visit Ayodhya and participate in the lamp-lighting ceremony at the temple, noting the joyous atmosphere during the celebrations.
The Union Minister shared that substantial preparations for the Maha Kumbh are underway following a recent meeting between the Uttar Pradesh government and the central government, attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He mentioned that this event will draw more attendees than Rajasthan’s population, emphasizing the significance of the occasion.
While wishing the nation and state residents a joyful Deepotsav, Shekhawat encouraged strengthening bonds of affection and fostering new aspirations. He hoped this Diwali would usher in prosperity and good fortune for households, urging everyone to commit to the vision of a developed India.
Additionally, on Thursday morning, Shekhawat attended a condolence meeting in Khara village, Phalodi, where he expressed sorrow and offered tributes to a family that lost five members in a tragic road accident, providing support to the grieving family.
