Doda Bus Mishap: 36 dead while 19 injured, PM Modi condoles the loss of lives

At least 36 people were killed and 19 others were injured when a bus carrying passengers skidded off the road and fell into a 300-feet deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Wednesday. He said that rescue operations have been started and some bodies have been recovered.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh said, “I am saddened to share the updated information received from Doda DC Harvinder Singh at the accident site. Unfortunately, 36 people have died and 19 have been injured, six of whom are in critical condition. The injured are being shifted to GMC Doda and GMC Jammu as per requirement. All possible assistance is being provided. Deepest condolences to the bereaved families. Singh represents Anantnag Lok Sabha seat of Jammu and Kashmir.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi too condoled the loss of lives. In a post on X, Prime Minister office said, “The bus accident in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir is distressing. My condolences to the families who have lost their near and dear ones. I pray that the injured recover at the earliest. ”

Govt also announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to injured from PMNRF.
