Delhi Police arrests interstate drugs smuggler, absconding for a year

A 30-year-old interstate drug supplier, who was absconding from India, was arrested at the Delhi airport while he was trying to flee to Canada.

New Delhi : A 30-year-old interstate drug supplier, who was absconding from India, was arrested at the Delhi airport while he was trying to flee to Canada.

This information was given by the police, the accused has been identified as Kanwarbir Singh, a resident of Amritsar district of Punjab. Police said our team was acting on information about an absconding drug supplier Kanwarbir Singh, who is the kingpin of an interstate drug gang.

On February 18, two of his associates – Ranbir Singh alias Tinku and Loyangamba Itocha – were also arrested, and opium was recovered which they had purchased from a drug supplier in Manipur.

Several raids were conducted on Singh’s hideouts in Punjab but he was not found. Meanwhile, information was received that the accused was planning to flee India for a job as a chef in Canada. DCP said- As a preventive action, a look out circular was issued against Kanwarbir.

Subsequently, Kanwarbir was arrested from the Indira Gandhi International Airport, foiling his plans to leave the country and escape the clutches of the law.

The DCP said that after studies, Kanwarbir started working as a chef in his cousin’s hotel. “Here he came in contact with some criminal elements and started supplying banned substances in his local area and earning money,” the DCP said. Kanwarbir later came in contact with Kanwaldeep Singh alias Chhotu Sardar and started supplying drugs in Delhi, Punjab and Assam.
