Jammu: In recent development in the Kupwara Encounter, one soldier has been killed in the firing. During the firing, total of 5 army personnel were injured including an army officer. All were rushed for treatment where one soldier succumbed to injuries while rest 4 are undergoing treatment. It is also being said that one terrorist has been neutralised by security forces in the encounter.
The encounter took place in the jungle area near Machil sector. All the injured soldiers are undergoing treatment in the Hospital.
A News agency quoted that Pakistani Border Action Team (BAT) is suspected to be involved in the attack. In the attack, the BAT team may include their SSG commandos and Pakistani Army soldiers with terrorist organizations.
According to media reports, the soldiers were conducting a search operation in the Kamkari area of Kupwara, when the terrorists opened fire on them. The security forces had received intelligence about Pakistani terrorists hiding in the Kamkari area, after which the army started this search operation. A Search is being conducted by sending additional soldiers into the forest.
The operation started after a joint team of police and security forces got input about the presence of terrorists in that area. There have been a series of encounters between terrorists and security forces across Jammu and Kashmir in the recent past in which many terrorists have been eliminated.
