Chandigarh: Punjab’s new Governor Gulab Chand Kataria today summoned officials from NHAI to BSNL under the Centre and held a meeting with them. In the meeting, he mainly raised the issue of delay in NHAI land acquisition before the officials and asked them to settle this work quickly.
Let us tell you that recently Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had expressed his objection over the delay in land acquisition for NHAI projects in Punjab. He had also warned that if the land acquisition work is not completed soon, he will withdraw the projects.

After the Union Minister’s warning, Punjab’s new Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has suddenly come into action. In the meeting, he has given strict instructions to the officials that a meeting will be held every three months regarding the progress report of all the schemes and projects of the Central Government running in the state. The progress of the work will be discussed in this.
In the meeting, the Governor has instructed the officials to complete the delay in all the central projects. He said that if there is any problem in any project, it should be brought on record in writing, so that such issues can be resolved on priority with the help of the central and state government. The Governor asked the NHAI officers to complete the land acquisition work soon.
The Governor also discussed the issue of heavy traffic in Chandigarh. Responding to this issue, NHAI officials said that the construction of national highways connecting Panchkula to Shimla and Majri to Baddi will reduce the problem to a great extent.
CM Mann called meeting of farmers regarding land acquisition
However, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has also called a meeting with farmer leaders of Gurdaspur and Tarn-Taran districts on August 16 to resolve the issues of land acquisition for the construction of highways. Despite this, instead of waiting, the Governor himself called a meeting and got information about the projects from the officials.
