Flood conditions have been prevailing in many districts of Uttar Pradesh for about a week. Gorakhpur is the worst affected by the floods. Here the Rapti river is flowing above the danger mark. So far more than 55 villages have been submerged. Relief and rescue work is being done by deploying 100 boats. NDRF, SDRF and PAC teams have also been deployed.
The Ganges River is also in spate. 30 ghats have been submerged in the Ganges in Varanasi. Water has reached the Ganga Aarti Sthal of Dashashwamedh Ghat. The old Aarti Sthal of Assi Ghat has been shifted. Today the Aarti will be 4 feet behind. On the other hand, flood conditions also persist in the areas of Bihar adjoining Nepal.
Apart from this, Mumbai received heavy rainfall on Thursday. According to the IMD, 101 mm of rain was recorded in 10 hours (from 8 am to 6 pm). During this time, many incidents like the uprooting of trees were also reported, but there were no casualties. The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert in 13 states today.
IMD has warned of very heavy rains in 8 states Goa, Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Odisha on Friday. At the same time, a heavy rain alert has been issued in 5 states Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and Haryana.
