Sonia Gandhi to enter Upper House, will file her Rajya Sabha nomination from Rajasthan today

The elections will be held on February 27. The last date of filing nomination is February 15.

Jaipur: Chairperson of Congress Parliamentary Party and party’s former president Sonia Gandhi will file her Rajya Sabha nomination today. Sonia Gandhi will file her nomination from Rajasthan for the Rajya Sabha elections.

Sonia Gandhi will file her nomination from Rajasthan seat. The seat was held by Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Manmohan Singh is set to retire from his post in April. The elections will be held on February 27. The last date of filing nomination is February 15.

 She landed in capital Jaipur, Rajasthan accompanied by Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, her son Rahul Gandhi and daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday.

She will file her nomination papers at 11 a.m. Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot was also seen at airport with them. The party leaders have asked all its MLAs to remain present in Jaipur on Wednesday and Thursday as Sonia Gandhi will file her nomination.

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is the current Rajya Sabha MP from Rajasthan and his tenure is coming to an end. In such a situation, a demand was made to send Sonia Gandhi to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan in his place. Sonia Gandhi is Member of Lok Sabha from Rae Bareli and with her entry in upper house, it is also being speculated that who will contest election from the Lok Sabha seat of Rae Bareli.

According to the list Dr. Akhilesh Prasad Singh Contesting Election From Bihar Assembly, Abhishek Manu Singhavi Contesting from Himachal Pradesh and Chanderkant Handore Contesting Rajyasabha Member Contest From Maharashtra Assembly.
