Telangana: Ahead of the Southwest monsoon’s arrival, the India Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rain and thunder showers across many parts of Telangana over the next four days. A yellow alert has been issued for numerous districts until May 29, with the possibility of heavy rainfall in isolated areas of northern Telangana. Most regions in the state are experiencing cloudy weather, creating favorable conditions for the monsoon to arrive, likely by the end of May or early June.
The monsoon has advanced further into parts of the Arabian Sea, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, and the Bay of Bengal. An upper air trough extends from east-central Arabian Sea to north Odisha, passing through central Maharashtra, north Telangana, and South Chhattisgarh.
On Monday, districts such as Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, and Mahabubnagar are expected to see isolated heavy rains, accompanied by gusty winds of 30-40 km/h in some places. Similar weather is predicted for Tuesday in districts like Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, and Siddipet.
Weather expert T. Balaji indicated that Telangana could experience moderate to heavy rains in the western, southern, and central districts by Monday night, especially near the Maharashtra and Karnataka border. Scattered rains are also expected in Hyderabad during the evening and night. The weather forecast suggests a strong monsoon onset in the coming days, likely driven by a low-pressure system that could bring intense rainfall, including in Hyderabad.
