Kolkata: Tragedy struck in Cooch Behar, West Bengal, where four family members, including two children, lost their lives in a road accident late Sunday night. The victims have been identified as Sanjit Roy, his wife Bipasha Sarkar Roy, and their children Ivan and Ishita Roy.

The family was returning home from a wedding in Tufanganj when Sanjit, who was driving, lost control of the vehicle while passing through the Kaljani Heritage area. The car veered off the road and fell into a nearby river, trapping all four inside.

Local residents quickly rushed to the scene and managed to rescue them by breaking the car’s windows before transporting them to a local hospital. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of medical staff, all four were declared dead by Monday morning due to the severity of their injuries.

Sanjit Roy was a higher secondary school teacher at Natabari High School, and his wife was a primary school teacher in the area. Both were well-respected and admired within their community.
