Anritsar, May 3: There are some people in political life who create history not just by their positions but by their deeds, conduct and thoughts. Their life itself becomes a school – a living example of politics, organisation, service and patriotism. Tarun Chugh, National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party, is one such personality, whose birthday we are celebrating today with a spirit of celebration – with gratitude, respect and inspiration.
Starting from where there was no one to listen Tarun Chugh, who started his mysterious journey of politics from the streets of Amritsar, has seen those days when a common worker had to wait for hours at the door of seniors just to meet them. He raised slogans, pasted posters, sat in dharnas, and walked on the path of struggle, which big leaders often forget. But he never complained – neither to the organisation, nor to the time.
Dedicated his life to the ideology that taught him that “Service, not power, is the religion of politics.” A leader made of the soil of the organisation. Today, when he is the National General Secretary, his identity remains the same – “the man of the organisation.” The post could not bring about a change in his nature because he considered the post as a sadhana (practice), not a means. He has proved time and again that the BJP is not just a political party, but an ideological family and the workers are the soul of that family. His working style has always been grassroots, whether it is being in charge of a state, making election strategy, or listening to a booth-level worker.
He communicates at every level with as much ease as he would with an old colleague. This intimacy makes him a popular leader. A leader who does not just lead, but creates. Tarun Chugh is one of those rare leaders who do not just contest elections, but prepare for election leadership. The contribution he has made in connecting the youth to the party, bringing new faces to the forefront and making the grassroots workers a part of the decision-making
the process is truly historic.
His strategy has depth of ideology as well as practicality of implementation. He works with equal efficiency in every field – media, social media, organisational structure and election management. He has established the image of an ‘organiser’ in Indian politics, who is both modern and value-based. An example of intimacy in personal relationships Thousands of workers like me learn not only organisation but also the way of life by working with him. His patience, his simplicity and punctuality – all these are not just superficial disciplines but are a natural part of his personality.
I have myself experienced many times that he is available to listen to the problems of workers even at midnight. He never underestimated anyone, never ignored anyone. This is the reason why he is equally respected by workers of every age group, every class and every state. A value-based signature
in Indian politics, While today’s politics is dominated by allegations, opportunism and superficial nationalism, Tarun Chugh’s life presents a lasting ideal.
He chose to stand for the organization in every crisis, dedicated every achievement to the workers, and made every criticism an opportunity for introspection. His most favourite line always inspires me – “Politics is not just a game of position and power, it is a penance of nation building.” And he has performed this penance with all his heart, words and deeds. A humble greeting on his birthday.
Today, on the auspicious occasion of his birthday, I congratulate him as a disciple – not only for his birth, but for his leadership, his affection, and his guidance. I pray to God that he always remains healthy, lives long and continues to serve the country, organization and society with the same determination, energy and compassion. Because when the leadership is value-based, and the organization is worker- centric then it becomes the soul of the nation. Tarun Chugh is the guardian of that soul.
