Koppal: A group of tourists stargazing near Hampi, Karnataka, was brutally attacked, resulting in the gang rape of an Israeli tourist and a local homestay owner, and the murder of a tourist from Odisha. The horrific incident occurred near the Tungabhadra Left Bank Canal near Sanapura village.

According to police reports, the victims were attacked by three men who initially approached them asking for money. When the tourists refused, the assailants attacked them with stones and pushed several of them into the canal before sexually assaulting the two women.

One of the male tourists, 40-year-old Beebas from Odisha, was found dead in the canal. The other two male tourists who were pushed into the water managed to swim to safety. The 29-year-old homestay owner has filed a police complaint.

Police have identified the suspects and launched a manhunt. Medical tests confirm the sexual assault. Authorities are investigating whether the victims were under the influence, which might explain their inability to defend themselves against the attackers.
